Controllers Not Included?

Lord of robots does not supply controllers for a number of reasons.

How to Control Your MiniBot

You can choose any remote control method for your MiniBot, but you'll need to provide your own code due to the variety of control options available. For your convenience, Lord of Robots provides two sample control methods on our GitHub. For basic control, there's a sample code for a Web Interface, allowing you to operate your MiniBot using any device with a web browser. For enhanced control, we provide sample code for a PS4 controller, enabling direct connection between the controller and your MiniBot.

Commonplace Item

Many individuals already own a controller or two, and we strongly encourage using what you have. Our top recommendation for a controller is the PS4 (PlayStation 4) controller, as it is widely supported and easily obtainable. Whether you choose to purchase a new or used controller, you can easily find a PS4 controller on online marketplaces such as Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace.

Open Source Approach

At Lord of Robots, we advocate for the use of open source items when constructing robots. This allows you to use the control methods of your choice. While we recommend the PS4 controller because it is a widely-supported and well-documented option, we understand that it may not be suitable for everyone. If you are comfortable using hobby RC (radio controls), we encourage you to do so. Alternatively, if you prefer using an Xbox controller or any other type of controller, we fully support your decision. Our mission is to inspire creativity and innovation, and we welcome all ideas and approaches that help you achieve your goals.

Save You Money

Game controllers are a widely available and affordable option for controlling your robot. The PS4 controller is particularly recommended because of the numerous resources and support available for it. You can easily purchase a new or used PS4 controller at a low cost from online marketplaces such as Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace, often as low as $20-30 per controller. This not only keeps the cost of your project down, but also enables Lord of Robots to focus on sourcing more specialized and difficult-to-find components for your robot at affordable prices.
