About Lord of Robots - LoR

Lord of Robots is a Canadian robotics company focused on making STEM education hands-on, accessible, and competitive. We create robotics kits, programs, and events that teach real engineering skills through building, coding, and teamwork. Our pathways—from educational MiniBots to advanced robots—help students grow from curious beginners into confident builders, makers, and future professionals in the robotics and tech industries.

Our Story

Lord of Robots was founded by engineers with decades of experience in embedded systems, electromechanical design, and manufacturing. Alongside their industry work, the founders spent over a decade mentoring high school students through the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), where they saw firsthand the impact hands-on robotics could have on young minds.

But we also saw a gap—something smaller, more affordable, and accessible. A platform that offered the same excitement and learning as FRC, but without the massive cost or reliance on industry mentorship. Something students could explore independently or with peers, while still being part of a larger, supportive community.

While helping students develop their own embedded and robotics projects, we noticed the same components being used again and again. In 2023, we built the first MiniBots as a side project and brought them to our FRC team just for fun. The response was immediate—students spent hours playing, experimenting, and pushing their limits. That night sparked the path forward.

From there, we battle-tested the kits with our own students, refined the hardware, strengthened our documentation, and launched structured competitions. What started as a playful experiment became a full program. MiniBots are now a platform built by and for student innovators.

With two full competition seasons behind us—Summit Showdown (2024) and Tower Takeover (2025)—we’re excited for what the community is building next.

In 2024, we also launched Team LoR, our combat robotics team, to compete in events like BotBrawl across Ontario. It’s another way we support hands-on engineering and offer builders a chance to push limits and build skills.

Our goal remains simple: equip robot builders with the tools, components, and knowledge they need to succeed—and hopefully spark a passion for innovation along the way.
